Artist's murals create conversation piece

Artist Ray Gatica and client Jean Holman stand in front of one of  the underwater  murals he created for her home.

Gatica recently created under-water-themed murals for Aquatic Care in Humble, and the Holman family in Katy. 

Murals provide a simple, but dramatic way to express the theme of a business or turn a home's empty wall space into a conversation piece.

"When you commission a work, it's really nerve racking," said client Jean Holman.

 Evidently they had no cause for concern
because they asked Gatica to create two more murals.

He spent a total of 40 hours
in his studio completing the two original works that now hang in the Holmans' foyer.

They were painted on canvas using acrylic paints in the fore-ground and airbrush for detail and shadow.  Then the frames were broken down and the canvas rolled up for transport to the
Holman home.

"It's so neat, we just absolutely love it," she said.

Magic and Art Studio in Houston, wants to allay peoples concerns about commissioning original works for their homes. He can work for a set price and even in a set amount of time, if the client so desires, and he tailors the work to the personality of the client.
